VolkTerm — a terminal for macOS
Many coding agents, one readable screen
A native macOS terminal on the Ghostty engine for running several coding agents at once: workspaces, a status for every agent, and sessions that come back after a reboot.
macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon and Intel.
An agent’s status on its row
- Workingactive
- Waiting for youblocked
- Finishedcompleted
What is in VolkTerm
- Tiles and workspaces. A workspace is one screen and each session is a tile in a split tree. Workspaces sit in groups.
- A status for every agent. A row in the sidebar shows who is working, who is waiting for you and who has finished; the dashboard shows everyone’s live output at once.
- Agents come back after a reboot. In Live sessions mode each pane’s command line is replayed as you typed it, and Claude and Codex resume their conversation.
- Your own shell. A native app on the Ghostty engine. Your zsh, its theme and plugins work as they are.
- Programmatic control. The volktermctl command drives sessions, windows and dialogs over a local socket; a skill teaches Claude Code and Codex to use it.
- Files beside the tiles. A file tree, a Markdown preview and an editor popup on a ⌘-click on a file path.
Some features, such as stage boards, need a VolkTerm license.
